About name-based checks

Level 1 and Level 2 (CRJMC) checks are name-based: they search using your name and date of birth. If a possible match cannot be confirmed by name and date of birth alone, fingerprint verification may be required before a result can be issued. This can add time and is outside our control.

Our estimated processing time is about 15 minutes after successful identity verification for many checks. Some checks take longer, for example when additional review is needed, when a possible match requires fingerprint verification, or when there are delays at the provider.

Before you buy

  • Confirm the exact check type the employer or organization requires.
  • Ask whether they accept results from a private online service.
  • Ask how recent the check needs to be.
  • If the role involves children or vulnerable persons, apply for a Vulnerable Sector Check through your local police service instead.
