We want everyone to be able to apply for a check online.
Draft for professional legal review — not yet approved for publication.
This document is a working draft. It must be reviewed by legal counsel and aligned with the final screening provider agreement before launch.
Draft last updated: October 26, 2026
Our commitment
We aim for Ontario Criminal Record Check to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we design with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) in mind.
What we do
- Semantic page structure with landmarks and headings in a logical order.
- Full keyboard access with visible focus indicators.
- Text and interface colours chosen to meet a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
- Form fields with visible labels, clear error messages and descriptions linked to each field.
- Layouts that work on small screens and at 200% zoom, and respect for reduced-motion settings.
Known limitations
Identity verification is completed in our screening provider's own interface, which we do not control. If you have difficulty with any verification step, contact us and we will help you find an alternative where one is available.
Feedback and alternative formats
If you encounter a barrier or need information in another format, please tell us through our contact form. Please describe the page and the problem. We will respond and work to fix reported issues.
