Terms and Conditions
Draft for professional legal review — not yet approved for publication.
Draft last updated: October 26, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms form an agreement between you and Ontario Criminal Record Check (“we”, “us”) for use of Ontario Criminal Record Check (the “Service”). By creating an account or placing an order, you agree to them, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
2. The Service
The Service lets you apply online for a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) or a Criminal Record Check (Level 1). Both are name-based police record checks. We provide the application, payment, support and secure delivery of results. The underlying screening and identity verification are conducted by our screening provider, Triton Canada.
The Service does not offer Vulnerable Sector Checks. Other check types are offered only when shown as available on the website.
3. We are not a government service
Ontario Criminal Record Check is a private service. We are not a government department, police service or the RCMP, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any government.
4. No guarantee of acceptance or timing
- Each employer or organization decides which checks it accepts. We do not guarantee that any organization will accept your result.
- Processing times are estimates. Many checks are completed typically within 15 minutes after successful identity verification, but some take longer, including where a possible match requires fingerprint verification.
- Results reflect information available from the provider's record sources at the time of the check.
5. Your responsibilities
- Provide true, complete and current information.
- Confirm the check type required by your requesting organization before you buy.
- Complete identity verification and any follow-up steps requested by the provider.
- Keep your account credentials secure and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use.
6. Prohibited use
You must not:
- apply for a check about any person other than yourself, or impersonate another person;
- use the Service or any result for an unlawful or discriminatory purpose;
- alter, falsify or misrepresent a result; or
- interfere with, probe or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
We may suspend or cancel accounts or applications that breach these terms, without refund where permitted by law.
7. Business accounts
Organizations using business features agree to request checks only for legitimate purposes, with each candidate's knowledge, and to handle any result a candidate chooses to share in line with applicable law. Organizations cannot see results unless the candidate authorizes disclosure after viewing them.
8. Fees
Prices are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
9. Limitation of liability
[Placeholder for legal counsel: limitation and exclusion of liability, cap on damages, disclaimer of warranties, and indemnity provisions, subject to the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002.]
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in effect when you place an order applies to that order.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through our contact form.
